Wild Card. A Chronicle Novel

The chronicle novel "Wild Card" is based on documentary material and is dedicated to the events of the Time of Troubles – the unprecedented sixteen-month defense of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery, besieged by the forces of False Dmitry II, the campaign... of the voivode David Zherebtsov from Turukhansk to assist the besieged and the expulsion of the troops of Sapieha and Lisovsky from the monastery in 1608–1610. The book presents the images of the heroes of these events against a broad historical background: the abbot Archimandrite Joasaph, the besieging voivodes Grigory Dolgorukov and Alexei Golokhvasty, the Mangazeya voivode David Zherebtsov, monks, shooters, and peasants defending the monastery. For a wide range of readers.
