The Tale of Tsar Saltan
A. S. Pushkin worked on “The Tale of Tsar Saltan, of his glorious and mighty hero Prince Guidon Saltanovich and of the beautiful Swan Princess” for many years. Taking works of folklore as a basis, the great Russian poet changed... the plot at his own discretion, thought out in detail the images of the heroes, came up with bright names for them and dressed the fairy tale in a beautiful poetic form, adapting to folk poetry. In 1832, “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” was published and immediately fell in love with readers. Today this and other tales by A.S. Pushkin are included in the school reading program. Drawings by I.
